As we all know friendly fire will be active in faction warfare and this brings PC style gameplay into the frontline of things where situational awareness and watching out for your teamates is going to have to be a staple.
now alot of people are concerned about the obvious troll tactics that are going to come up with this and while it brings some concerns it also opens dorrs to the kind of wierd backstabbing metagaming that EvE brings tot he table.
obviously direct friendly fire has apropriate consequenses, rejection from the game after a bit of trolling, with abilties for vote kicks, as well as a mechanic that takes damage into concideration for those that would seek to simply maim instead of kill.
most people are concerned with intentional FF scuicide and while i understand the knee jerk reaction it wont be nearly as bad as you think, and will only be able to be exploited to its max by the truly clever.
with FF on players will have to adjust their game and you will see more and more people positioning in ways that are apropriate for that, and this will also make FF Scuiciders that much easyer to spot. In competitive FW you will have at minimum an organised squad and quite possably even mass Que sincings with many squads in order to stack teams as much as possable, this means that there are fewer and fewer slots on a competitive team for the old trollberry to ocupy. In addition to this the squads will be alot more sued to working within the restrictions of FF and upon noticing a particular trollberry will more than likely be able to mitigate their effetivness by simply being more careful and when apropriatly disposing of the offender using available oponents (aka luring the trollberry into a trap of enamys)
now within the first little while its going to be a problem, as the novelty will be fresh and people give it a spin for fun (but not profit), proto suits will be lost and you will have to accept that because thats apart of the game. I imagine you will even come across professional sabatuers who make it their playstyle to be a double agent in the mix and i believe thats perfectly fine. This game is a small piece of a much larger sandbox and while the two games arnt really related or connected all that much its important to remember that they both belong to the same universe, and that means that sabatoge, theft, corruption, scamming, and al those wonderful counter gaming playstyles are apart of things, and wont be going anywhere.
Just remember that when you venture into FW in 1.7 and try not to get too frusterated by the sudden influx of sabatoge. Instead use that time to work out ways to counter them, mitigate their effet, and perhaps even find a way to rig things against them. Its going to be apart of the game and you can either adapt to that or stick to pubs.
I personally will be fighting genuinly for the Minmatar, and i have no doubt that i will inevitably become a victom of this kind of gameplay, and im going to find every possable way to get revenge, ket them killed, and deal with them myself within the game mechanics instead of QQing to CCP on the forums.

Nobody else thinks griefers are normal and that players should find ways to use the game mechanics against the griefers themselves just as the griefers use the mechanics to grief? |

You do realize people can create, delete, and cycle through free alts with relative ease. Even if you are kicked from battles you can pop in a new character. However, this practices is only reserved for vile psychopaths...which there are obviously none in Dust 514.
thats ALOT of work
so much work that i would classify that as professional sabatoge.
it just means those who are serious in FW are going to have to find ways to deal with the professionals just as the professionals are going to have to find ways to sabatoge.
and yes i was fully aware of that when i wrote the OP |

and yes i was fully aware of that when i wrote the OP It's much easier when you're running multiple systems at once. You don't even have to particular pay attention to what's happening on the screen...just move your joysticks aimlessly in the direction of some friendly action. Or just perch up on a ledge with a BPO starterfit sniper. I'm sure you'll get an angry tk'er while you're 'slightly' afk.
and? thats not exactly going to sabatoge much. come on be a little more inventive with it, if your going through all the trouble of using multiple systems and rolling new characters repetitivly then at least make it worth while. |
